Latin music soundtrack for hot PC game, Tropico, piling up impressive awards.
Of the 200 to 300 major titles released last year, Tropico’s soundtrack may end up the runaway winner in the category

California—March 6, 2002—Tropico’s 3D graphics and multi-layered challenges have won new players and added to the popularity of simulation games but apparently so has Tropico’s music.

Of the 200 to 300 major titles released last year, Tropico’s soundtrack may end up the runaway winner in the category. Online site, gamespots.com, named Tropico "Best Music" in January, and Computer Games Magazine (March 2002) also awarded Tropico "Best Music of 2001." Now, perhaps the most prestigious body in the industry, The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, has given Tropico’s hot Latin sounds the top prize for "Outstanding Achievement in Original Musical Composition." Roughly the equivalent of the Oscars for the industry, the Academy selected Indart’s Tropico tracks over a very impressive field of high profile and big-selling titles, specifically: Batman Vengeance, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Myst III Exile.

First released in April 2001, top critics quickly began handing out kudos for Tropico’s music:

"If you don’t start dancing while playing Tropico, one must seriously have no beat. PopTop Software has aligned a beautifully assembled score of ‘Caribbean Folk.’ It matches the aura Tropico emits and really brings the island to life without any repetition. There are even lyrics in these songs, which actually caused me to bust out some of my great singing during my dictator regime. PopTop Software has deftly captured the emotion surrounding Tropico and installed it into a great soundtrack." Kevin "Exodus" Weinberg of www.pcparadox.com

"The music deserves a separate paragraph. As I progressed through the game, I found myself nodding along with the rhythm, without even noticing it! Kudos to Daniel Indart, the person responsible for the game’s soundtrack, for such an amazing job" Game Addicts Magazine (www.gameaddicts.net).

The game takes its music cues from 14 original Latin songs produced and directed by renowned producer/songwriter, Daniel Indart. The lively offering of Caribbean rhythms and flavors incorporates beautiful melodies, dance beats and spicy lyrics and features leading Latin artists/songwriters, including Daniel Indart himself. The production exhibits a highly sophisticated, pristine quality, while preserving its fresh, Caribbean street-like feel.

The soundtrack album is available for sale at www.lmsrecords.com along with a second version for a follow-up game.
